I just noticed this is the exact same drawing as your Look at the Stars eye, only flipped, skewed, and color changed. O_O For 20$ you'll be starting from scratch in your commissions, right?

I think its for the purpose of a sort of commission ad. You know, without having to go through the trouble of making a whole eye (which takes hours), yet still creating something refreshing? They are very different though, in the end :)

I think commissions would be from scratch. Most of his eye drawings are in the end, very different :)

20 dollars for ONE eye? That's a lot.

If you consider time, effort.... etc, its really quite a good price. Basically, in my experience, it takes close to 5-7 hours for 1 eye...

But hey, different strokes for different folks. If you don't want to spend that much on it then don't bother about it ;)

And besides, for a lot of people their art is one of their main sources of income.

I agree. If it was a full face or something similar then I would understand the pricing, but $20 for just an eye? I'd say $10 would be a better price.

If you consider the time it takes to draw one eye, as well as the research and practise it takes to reach the level of skill being offered, twenty dollars is really not that much.

Still though, 20$ for a simple eye? For something that this guy does in matter of 15-20 minutes? Not to mention his name means almost nothing outside of deviantArt? For something that's not remotely original in a sense where whole bunch of artists do this shit all the time?

I mean in the end, everybody is free to spend money how they want but IMO it's waste of it. Believe it or not, you can get much more from some artists for same amount, thing is you'd have to dig for those kind of people.

actually.... he spends a lot of time. He mentions them in certain pieces. It takes hours and hours and hours!
Alot of artists are under paid because if you think about it, the min wage is 10.25/ hour (in canada) so 20 dollars would equal less than 2 hours. I'm sure he takes much more time! I just think that even though I don't have that kind of money, he definitely deserves it! also, materials can be quite expensive as well!

Ok let's say time is involved. Sure, detailing sometimes requires amount of time, but other than that, it's still too much. I'm speaking about what you get for that 20$. One eye? Wouldn't you rather, let's say, have a full body sketch of some character or just one tiny eye that's over-detailed?

And about materials I'm not certain because eye in this one is digital done so it's yknow... material free. If it's traditional, that's understandable, but man, 20 bucks for sparkly eye, IMO, is a tad much. :T

Actually, to be honest I would buy the eye... it's coloured, it has depth to it... At least for me, I cannot achieve such greatness to draw the eye so magically but I can draw a quick sketch of my characters :/

Well I guess the materials aren't very expensive on digital :D

I hoped the artist responded. I would like to know if it's only for 1 eye of two because I think I would definitely like a pair.
