i don't know why everyones getting so butthurt, it ain't that hard to follow. four steps, four brushes that get finer each go, and just a lighter tone each go...not too complex :/

True... but some off their rants and/or argument has a point...
True because... some people can see through it as an easy basis for doing different kind of hair style
thus making this a tutorial for those who had an advance knowledge for doing stuff like this or those people who've been following his style before...
yes, some of this work can be done with a brush or airbrush alone... but considering the technique he used... some people may find this difficult.

But I agree that... this still consider as a tutorial.
and I also I agree with you... doing artwork needs time and effort... they just didn't pop-up in a thin air...

but then again... I can't argue that they may like it or not... after all it's still their opinion.

mmhmm. right well i neither negate nor support the complaints of them, however I'd like to point out that the ranting and bashing was unessecary, excessive, and annoying. If you like it, favourite it, if you don't, then go about your merry way. I've seen the same complaint paraphrazed more than enogh in this thread, and it's getting redundant. I mean, if someone's gonna comment and it's that important to say something negative, it might be a tad less moronic to check and see if the problem has already been recognized.

that really is the point...
if this art helps other you(artist/people then be thankful...
if not... find another tutorial...

he's just being helpful for some people/artist, there's no need for unnecessary comments(bashing)

P.s. in my own opinion, tutorials don't need some critiques if not asked by the artist...
and quoting your point " If you like it, favourite it, if you don't, then go about your merry way."

this isn't a tutorial, this is a step-by-step. a tutorial describes the process where as this is just showing the different stages.

this is not a step-by-step. a step-by-step annotates almost everything including brushes used ect. basically, this is a tutorial for people who are familliar with what he/she's doing, and thus following that tutorial.

nonono this is a step-by-step because it literally shows the steps leading to the final result with no annotation. what you're describing is a tutorial

Still very tough putting a lot of them into practice, great guide to learn processes from though! =)

There seems to be a step missing between your third and fourth steps. This isn't very easily understood as to your process with these.

That's what I hate about most of his tutorials. It's nice and all he's providing them, but there always seems to be a gradual increase in step-by-step and then BAM, final product. Like wtf

Yeah, I've noticed that. He'll occasionally give one that's easier to follow, but because he doesn't provide instruction most of these aren't that helpful. Although it is neat to see these.

I also hate it how he doesn't explain what software he uses. I tried the one with that neon effect and it didn't turn out how how made it. Then I read the comments and it said he used paint tool SAI. While I used Photoshop. I also agree that this isn't a tutorial, there is no explanation on how to do this.

he made this one hair tutorial (the one with brown hair, far right from the entries he linked in the description) and that one is pretty detailed. perhaps he thought u saw it already and thus understand what he's doing here.

No, that tutorial isn't helpful either. And he does that with more than just hair tutorials, so that's no excuse. These screencap ones aren't all that helpful. But, whatever. I don't like ryky's style most of the time anyways. He makes things so unnecessarily blurry or shiny.

I am sorry to interrupt but saying you don't like an artist's style in THEIR picture is kinda offensive. Most big artists doesn't do tutorials, and there are people who find these useful. If I was him, your comment will break my heart and I wouldn't do more tutorials which will also upset the followers of these tutorials. As NicklysSticky said, these tutorials are for people who are familiar with tools, if you want beginner tutorials all you need is searcing c:

Sorry if I was mean in any kind of way

His art is in the public. If I don't like the style of -some- of his work (like I SAID) then I can say I don't like some of his style. -_- If you're an artist, and just someone saying that they don't like your style would offend you, then you need to reconsider your options. Not trying to be mean, but you can't expect everyone to bow down and like your style. And actually, I am no beginner.

Lol, not only are people saying I can't express a distate in a style (and respectfully, at that) they are insinuating I am new to the program. Lol. I mean, I am not trying to start drama all I said was I didn't understand why he adds blur and this unnecessary shine.

Sample #4 (black hair)

1.) feather selection, Circle then fill or big brush hardness 50%
2.) brush 50% opacity, hardness 50%
3.) brush 50% hardness, opacity 100%
4.) airbrush or dodge tool

but there's always another way to do this.. I just give you the idea...
