Can I suggest something? In real eyes as well as manga/anime eyes, the pupil is a lot bigger and actually doesn't show a lot of white around the top because the eyelid covers it. I can understand this technique that you showed if you were drawing, say, an emotion of happiness or shock, then this eye that you showed would fit. If you kinda don't get what I mean, take the last two eyes, squint a bit, and try and imagine that this is a face. The eyes look really wide. Do you get what I mean? Regardless, this is an interesting and potentially useful guide for colouring the eye, so well done for that! I really like the lighting effect you showed in the last one.
I think he already knows that ahaha, Ryky is a great artist and if you have a look at some of his others drawings or tutorials you'll see he does usually follow the advice you just gave he's usually very good at drawing eyes, I agree that the eyes shouldn't be wide like that unless expressing an emotion but the way you worded that sounds a little condescending..
Ah, yeah, I probably don't know what I'm talking about. I'm trying to give helpful criticism and I guess I'm still learning myself, that's all. I think I thought that this was leaning more towards realism than anime because of the style of the eye? I'm not sure. I'm no professional, I don't claim to be! Aha, I think I need to learn a bit more before I try and give advice, huh?
